Perich Exhibition

Jaume Perich was one of the most incisive, influential, and popular humorists in Spain. With a feline, penetrating, and untamed gaze, Perich portrayed our society during the last third of the 20th century. February 1, 2020, marked twenty-five years since his death, and even today his lucid and rebellious vision remains remarkably relevant.

His sharp humor is capable of illuminating everything from the most banal to the most complex topics, always from an unequivocally progressive and strongly politicized point of view.
The Born CCM aims to celebrate his life, work, and legacy, a legacy that his family has entrusted to the Historical Archive of the City of Barcelona. Thus, 'Humor with Cat's Eyes' showcases a significant number of original drawings and personal documents that have never before been made public.
This exhibition also aims to evoke the profession of newspaper cartoonist and become a rallying cry for freedom of expression. Perich is a paradigmatic figure who, fighting against censorship, mordantly portrayed the world around him while simultaneously revealing, through humor, the weaknesses of a system and a society riddled with problems and contradictions.
Temporary exhibition co-produced with the Historical Archive of the City of Barcelona and curated by Jaume Capdevila-KAP.
