Collection: Alberto Pancorbo ┃ Surrealist Work
Alberto Pancorbo is one of the greatest exponents of contemporary Spanish figurative surrealism. A self-taught artist born in Soria, he achieved international recognition at a very young age thanks to an extraordinary technical skill and a personal imaginary where realism merges with symbolism, mystery, and visual poetry. His works construct scenarios between wakefulness and dream, populated by figures, objects, and architectures that invite multiple interpretations.
Throughout his career, he has exhibited in important galleries, international fairs, and auction houses such as Sotheby's, developing a career that spans Europe and America. His painting, defined by critics as a fantastic realism of great poetic sensibility, stands out for the precision of his drawing, his rich narrative, and an evocative atmosphere that has consolidated his presence in private collections in various countries. At Gaudifond you will find a selection of original works by Alberto Pancorbo for collectors and lovers of contemporary surrealism.

Biography
I don't know if I chose painting or if painting chose me; in any case, I will continue painting to find out.
Alberto Pancorbo
In the late seventies, many artists passed through Gaudifond . Almost all of them were eager and keen to stand out. But very few possessed the necessary technique to differentiate themselves from the rest. One day, a young man from Soria, in his early twenties, appeared, unassuming and newly arrived in Barcelona, carrying some drawings under his arm. He claimed to have been the youngest artist selected for the first Barcelona Art Biennial.
With skepticism and the usual reservations, we weren't expecting much. But what they reflected was a fusion of surrealism and magical realism with meticulous attention to detail and impeccable brushwork. We were even more astonished when he claimed to be self-taught, something hard to believe since the vast majority of painters, after years of practice, don't reach that level.
Without further delay, Alberto Pancorbo entered as an exclusive artist in
Our gallery. The year was 1980, and his paintings were taken directly to the Basel International Art Fair, where they astonished viewers with their elegance, evocative power, mysticism, and depth. Without further delay, Alberto Pancorbo embarked on several years of exhibitions in various cities throughout Spain and abroad, even reaching Japan, where he won numerous awards in art competitions. His painting was described by art critics as "romantic, sensual, and fantastical realism, poised between wakefulness and dream," and praised for "a meticulous attention to the human figure, architecture, clothing, perspective, composition, and nature."
In 1984 he held his first exhibition in Madrid and was awarded the prize for breakthrough artist of the year. Shortly afterward, his daughter was born, from his marriage to the surrealist artist Dolores Nuñez, whom he named Leonor, after the young

He was invited to exhibit his work in Basel and Colombia. His reception there was so positive that he decided to move to Bogotá. His first book on his painting was published in 1986. In the following years, Alberto Pancorbo exhibited in the United States, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. He participated in numerous art fairs and Sotheby's auctions in New York. In 1994, his second book, a compilation of many of his paintings, was published. He was also included in several books on realist art and other publications.
In 1998 Alberto Pancorbo moved to Miami, the city where he resides and where he continues to paint works exhibited throughout Central America, South America and the United States.
