Collection: Aurora Altisent ┃ Graphic works and engravings

Aurora Altisent i Balmas (Barcelona, 1928 – 2022) was a Spanish painter, draughtswoman, and sculptor, recognized as one of the great graphic chroniclers of the city of Barcelona. Her work focuses primarily on the detailed representation of urban spaces, interiors, shops, and emblematic architecture, captured with a precise and sensitive eye.

Trained in the Catalan art scene alongside painters such as Ángel López-Obrero and Ramon Rogent, she began her career in painting and sculpture before specializing in ink drawing from the 1970s onwards. Her refined line and observational skills made her a benchmark in contemporary figurative drawing.

She published fundamental works about Barcelona, such as Botigues de Barcelona, Barcelona tendra, and Salons de Barcelona, which cemented her reputation as a key author in the visual representation of urban heritage. She also worked as an illustrator for important publishing houses and exhibited individually in venues such as the Sala Gaudí in Barcelona.

Her work has been institutionally recognized with the Medal of Honor of Barcelona and the Gold Medal for Artistic Merit.
