Joan Rifà ┃ Symbolic and Contemporary Catalan Painting

Joan Rifà Benet was a painter, muralist, and engraver trained at La Llotja and the Escola de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi. He began his career in mural painting and monumental ceramics, developing important projects for churches and public spaces in Catalonia.

From the 1970s, he focused his production on painting, drawing, and engraving, creating a dreamlike universe with symbolist and surrealist roots, centered on the human figure. His work is distinguished by precise drawing, elegant contours, rigorous composition, and a soft palette that generates poetic and meditative atmospheres.

A member of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in France, Rifà solidified a strong international presence with exhibitions at the Basel International Art Fair, among others.
