Collection: José Marí ┃ Surrealist Work

José Marí Llobet (Valencia, 1938) is an artist trained at the Superior School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Valencia, whose pictorial and sculptural career is rooted in contemporary figuration with a surrealist sensibility. His work is characterized by a strong reflective charge, moving away from both American-influenced hyperrealism and the critical realism currents developed by Valencian groups such as Equipo Crónica or Equipo Realidad.

Throughout his career, he developed a diverse body of work that includes public sculpture, mural painting, and theatrical set design. In Germany, he created two sculptures for the city of Munich, in addition to murals in Zaragoza and San Sebastián, and set designs for the Teatro de Cámara de Valencia.

His work has been exhibited internationally at the Basel International Art Fair for three consecutive years, as well as in Japan, Switzerland, Cuba, the Netherlands, and in more than thirty exhibitions in Spain, solidifying a career recognized with various national and international awards.
