Juan José Balzi

Juan José Balzi (Buenos Aires, 1933) was an Argentine painter trained at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. After working in advertising in Brazil since 1958, from 1975 onwards he dedicated himself exclusively to painting, developing a body of work with a strong expressionistic character.

His painting, primarily figurative, stands out for its gestural intensity, dark tones, and profound reflection on human solitude in big cities. Through urban scenes and isolated figures, Balzi combined social sensibility with symbolic strength.

He participated in exhibitions in Argentina, Brazil, and other countries, and his works are part of private collections and institutions such as the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de São Paulo and the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado.
