Collection: Massimo Marchesotti ┃ Expressionist Work
Massimo Marchesotti (Milan, 1935–2019) was one of the most distinctive representatives of contemporary Italian Expressionism. With an artistic career spanning over fifty years, he began exhibiting in 1960 and, from 1970, collaborated with the historic Galleria dello Scudo in Verona. Trained at the Milan Conservatory of Music, he brought a profound sense of rhythm, color, and emotion to his painting, developing a language influenced by Pierre Bonnard and the expressionist power of Oskar Kokoschka.
His work has been exhibited in Italy, France, Portugal, Denmark, Spain, the United States, and Australia, with a presence in cities such as New York, Barcelona, and Sydney, and is part of prominent public and private collections. In 1971, he received the Gold Medal from the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies at the MTI71 International Contemporary Art Competition, an award that solidified his international projection. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Renato Guttuso and Gabriele Mucchi, and also delved into printmaking techniques with the Bergfelde Group in Berlin.
His painting stands out for its emotional intensity, rich chromaticism, and expressive brushwork that imbues his figures with great psychological power. Considered one of the most unique Italian painters of the second half of the 20th century, acquiring a work by Massimo Marchesotti means adding a piece of great artistic quality to a collection, supported by a solid international trajectory and an unmistakable plastic language.
