Artworks depicting childhood memories, rural landscapes, coastal villages, and circus themes, along with Jewish origins, are the similarities between Marc Chagall and Sally Weintraub (Belarus General Pico, La Pampa, Argentina – 1931).
Linked to naive art and movements such as surrealism and expressionism, the poetic and figurative works of Sally Weintraub, who met and saw Salvador Dalí paint in his studio in Port-Lligat, as well as Tàpies, are prolific in dreamlike visions and compositions that portray her passion for color.
A self-taught draughtswoman, painter, illustrator and printmaker, since 1955 Sally Weintraub has held numerous solo exhibitions in countries across the Americas.
Latin America and Europe. She received grants from the National Arts Fund of Argentina and the Hispanic Cultural Institute of Spain for her talent, in addition to awards, medals, and diplomas in Painting and Printmaking in Argentina and Slovenia. She also participated in various national and international competitions, including the International Naïf Symposium .
Sally Weintraub has illustrated the magazines "Atlántida" and "Postas Argentinas", the newspaper "La
"Nation," books published by the University of Buenos Aires Press, and her work has also been reproduced for the Argentine League Against Cancer. Throughout her life, Sally Weintraub has experimented with different techniques such as collage and gouache to enrich her work, where magic is embodied by circus artists in their costumes and colorful makeup, representing all aspects of life, from the comical to the tragic. Because, as Chagall said, "For me, the circus is a spectacle that appears and disappears, like the world."
