Marcos Irizarry (Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, 1936 – Madrid, 1995) was a Puerto Rican artist renowned for his mastery of printmaking and lyrical abstraction. Trained at the University of Puerto Rico and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, he developed his own visual language that combines technical rigor and poetic sensibility.
His work, featured in museums such as the MoMA in New York and the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, explores the relationship between form, texture, and light, with compositions that oscillate between geometry and organic forms. He is considered a key figure in contemporary Puerto Rican art.
