Collection: Helga Krebs ┃ Modern Work

Helga Krebs (Sonthofen, Germany, 1928 – Hermosillo, Mexico, 2010) was an artist of German origin based in Chile and later exiled in Mexico as a result of the 1973 coup.

Self-taught, she began her production with abstract art, then delved into neo-figuration, pop art and surrealism, developing a mixed style that incorporates collage, installations, painting and mixed techniques.

His work is characterized by a palette that mixes warm and earthy tones and a symbolic tension that reflects experiences of migration, exile, political conflict and social transformation. He participated in movements and exhibitions linked to the political culture of the time, including his collaboration with the Salvador Allende Museum of Solidarity (MSSA) project in Chile, and exhibitions in Mexico and North America after his exile.
