Collection: Marcos Irizarry ┃ Abstract Work
Marcos Irizarry (Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, 1936 – Madrid, 1995) was a pivotal figure in Puerto Rican abstraction and one of the most renowned printmakers of his generation. Trained at the University of Puerto Rico and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, he developed a visual language characterized by formal synthesis, technical rigor, and a profound poetic sensibility.
His work explores the relationship between geometry, space, texture, and light, creating compositions of great balance and visual strength. Represented in important international collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, Irizarry is considered an essential reference in contemporary Puerto Rican art.
